Independent SEO Audit & AI Visibility Review
Get a clear second opinion on your SEO investment.
You receive monthly reports. Rankings move. Content gets published. But you still need to know whether the work is helping the right customers find and choose your business.
I’m Penny Beaty, an independent SEO consultant with more than 25 years of experience. My independent SEO audit reviews your website, available search data, and reported SEO work to explain what is supported by evidence, what needs attention, and what to do next. The review can also examine how your business appears in AI search answers.
When an independent review makes sense
You may be preparing to renew an agency contract, investigating a drop in inquiries, or trying to understand an offer for “AI optimization.” You want an experienced person to examine the details before you commit more time or money.
For example, a Lafayette contractor might see more organic traffic while quote requests stay flat. I would investigate which pages gained visitors, whether those visitors match the service area, and whether inquiry tracking is working before drawing conclusions about the SEO campaign.
What I investigate
Reported work and supporting evidence. I compare the agreed SEO scope and available agency reports with changes that can be verified. Where records are missing, I identify the gap rather than assuming the work was never done.
Search traffic and business relevance. Using available Google Search Console and analytics data, I examine the queries, landing pages, and recorded inquiries behind headline numbers. Tracking limitations, seasonality, and changes elsewhere in the business are considered when interpreting results.
Technical and content priorities. I review the agreed pages for issues with crawling, indexing, internal links, content clarity, and the path to an inquiry or purchase. Findings are prioritized by their likely impact and the evidence available.
AI visibility and accuracy. For an agreed set of customer questions and platforms, I document observed brand mentions, recommendations, cited sources, and factual errors. I also check relevant website access and content issues. Each observation records its date and testing conditions; one answer is a snapshot, not a complete measure of visibility.
A fair assessment of your current agency
You can request this review while continuing to work with your existing provider. If the evidence supports the agency’s approach, I will explain why. If priorities need to change, you will receive specific findings and questions to discuss with them.
A traffic decline alone does not establish that an agency did poor work. Likewise, a longer keyword list does not establish that the business is attracting better prospects. The review considers the context behind both.
What you receive
A plain-language assessment: what is working, what is uncertain, and what needs attention.
A findings record: relevant URLs, screenshots, report references, and observations supporting the conclusions.
A prioritized action plan: recommended next steps, suggested ownership, dependencies, and checks to confirm completion.
An AI visibility baseline, when included: the agreed questions, observed answers and sources, and inaccuracies requiring attention.
A review call: a walkthrough of the findings and the questions you should put to your current team or provider.
Scope and pricing agreed before work begins
We first identify the decision you need to make. I then provide a written scope covering the website, priority pages, reporting period, available access, AI checks if included, deliverables, and timing.
The fee or hourly cap is agreed before the review starts. Implementation, ongoing management, and additional testing are scoped separately. You can take the recommendations to your current team or discuss follow-up support with me.
Questions business owners ask
Do I have to switch SEO agencies?
No. This is a standalone second opinion. You can use the findings to improve the work you are already paying for.
What access will you need?
Depending on the scope, I may request read-only access to Search Console and analytics, recent SEO reports, the agreed work scope, and a record of completed changes. If access is limited, I explain which conclusions can and cannot be supported.
Can you guarantee that ChatGPT or Google will recommend my business?
No. The review documents what we can observe and identifies improvements we can make. It does not guarantee rankings, AI citations, recommendations, or inclusion in model training data.
Will you make changes during the review?
The review produces findings and recommendations. Any implementation work is agreed separately, so you and your current provider know what will change and who is responsible.
Know what to do before you spend more
Tell me what is concerning you, which website you want reviewed, and the decision you need help making. We will use that conversation to define a useful, manageable review.
